Bug Hunting!
This week we have been reading the story “I love bugs”, the children decided to set up a tent outside with a campfire, they wanted to hunt for mini beasts who live in the woods and only come out when the sun goes down. They enjoyed building the tent and collecting wood for the fire. Some children even decided to draw the building plans so that others could see how to make it. A group of boys decided to make a bus to get people to the campsite and back home again.
While all this excitement was happening outside, inside the class, something very strange had happened to our mini beasts, they had been frozen, the children enjoyed thinking of ways we could get the insects out of the ice e.g. “maybe we could put it in the sun?”, “maybe we could hold it in our hands and let it melt?.
A very exciting week in Mayflower and on Friday, we will be releasing our butterflies that we have been looking after. We are all very keen to see them fly away.
