Nursery

The Nursery at Harris Primary Mayflower open in September 2016. The Nursery team consists of highly qualified Early Years practitioners that understand in depth the needs of our youngest members of school. The Nursery offers learning through play based experiences, under the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The aim of the Nursery is to enable children to develop a love for learning that will go with them throughout their school journey. We look at each child as an individual and will plan activities and experiences that will meet each child’s need. The Nursery team then work closely with the Reception team at Harris Primary Mayflower to ensure consistency and continuity for when the children move up to reception to enable a smooth transition.

The Nursery consists of:

Morning session:   08.15 - 11.15am   26 Children

Afternoon session: 12.00 - 15.00pm  26 Children

Our approach to learning embodies a positive attitude to life and learning as our pupils prepare to start their journey through school life. We aspire to encourage our children to feel equipped to play an active role in life as they grow and flourish in our care. Harris Primary Academy Mayflower staff believe that diversity is a strength, which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn here and visit us. We use our Core Values as a basis for our social and academic education.

We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunities for all and we will endeavour to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which people feel free to participate fully in Nursery life, regardless of their race or gender.

We are proud to hold the Millie's Mark which recognises excellence in safeguarding and paediatric first aid in Nursery settings.
