The KS2 Pupil Board had the opportunity to visit the Mayor’s Parlour and the Council Chamber. The Mayor spoke about her duties and the children took part in a debate, which gave the children a chance to learn about local governance and develop their communication skills. pic.twitter.com/lsbakMmaRs

The Opening Ceremony Autumn 2016

On the 6th October 2016 Harris Primary Academy Mayflower held a special opening ceremony in its new building. Our sponsor Lord Harris, the Chief Executive of the Harris Federation, Sir Dan Moynihan and our local MP Jackie Doyle-Price were our guests of honour.

The children sang for the guests and then showed off their Djembe drumming. Principals from other academies, staff from Thurrock council and the Harris Federation all came too and were impressed. Ms Hanley and Mr Britt made speeches.
