The KS2 Pupil Board had the opportunity to visit the Mayor’s Parlour and the Council Chamber. The Mayor spoke about her duties and the children took part in a debate, which gave the children a chance to learn about local governance and develop their communication skills. pic.twitter.com/lsbakMmaRs

Black History Month 2023 Launch

At Harris Mayflower we are proud that our curriculum is representative of our pupils, with black history taught across the full academic year and that our pupils learn about musicians, designers, figures from history, artists and explorers.

Monday 2nd October 2023, brings the start of our celebration of Black History Month where the children will be involved in a range of engaging and diverse activities and will culminate in a Celebration Day and Carnival in November. Full details of our 2023 programme will be sent to parents next week. This year, we would like to invite all children to come into school on Monday 2nd October wearing either traditional clothing or colours representing either an African or Caribbean country. Please could children bring in £1 and they will then be given a whistle on carnival day to add to the carnival atmosphere. Which country will you be representing? We look forward to seeing the Academy flooded with a mass of colours.
