Restaurant Trip in Year 5

It has been an amazing start to the new year for our Year 5 pupils. This week, we have had our first trip of the school year. Our topic for this term is Seasonal Soups. Our trip to Pizza Express was a huge success; the children learnt about seasonal foods grown in our country and some other interesting facts about food.

The children had to try and identify some vegetables and learn about how long they last in our households. After all the interesting learning about food, each child had the opportunity to make their own pizza. They learnt the process involved and the key words used at different stages of the process. Children did some kneading and some stretching before adding ingredients. After all that was achieved, the pizzas were put in the oven (by the supporting adults) and each child was able to take their pizza home. We are already looking forward to our next Year 5 class visiting the restaurant very soon.
