    Harris Primary Mayflower awarded Model School Status for 3rd year running!

    We are delighted to have been re-accredited with Model School Status for the third year running. Model School Status is awarded to schools and academies where it is clear outstanding practice exists. Pupils are taught by well trained phonics teachers and make rapid progress. 

    Here is what Ruth Miskin says about Model Schools-

    Model Schools achieve outstanding results by making sure teaching children to read is at the heart of what they do. They teach Read Write Inc. Phonics for an hour a day – every day – and run weekly practice sessions for staff.

    Crucially, they make the slowest progress children their priority: each child benefits from daily 10-minute tutoring, until they are able to keep up with their peers.
