Art in Year 5
Year 5 had an amazing afternoon with their parents during family learning afternoon. The first challenge was to create a hollow sphere. Before their halves could be joined, they scored the clay to ensure the pieces stuck together properly to create their sphere. They blended the rough edges away by smoothing the clay together with their fingers. Their second challenge involved modelling. Year 5 had to knead the clay or push on it repeatedly to remove air bubbles and extra moisture. They did that repeatedly before the clay was ready to be formed into a slab. Once the children were happy with the smooth surface, they then created their own design. The next lesson will be to paint our designs and we look forward to that challenge.
