Anti Bullying Week Launches
Harris Primary Academy Mayflower firmly said "No" to bullying as children talked about being different and kindness in a story session with the Executive Principal, Mr Britt today. The children heard a story about a creature who had no friends because he was different and they all talked about how sad it was to feel unwanted and lonely when your friends push you away, say horrible things or stop you joining in. The story ends happily when the creature meets a friend, who is also very different and they realise being different is good. They also know that being kind is always important in what you do, say and think.
All Mayflower pupils have been given an anti-bullying wristband and have also received leaflets offering guidance on bullying for parents and pupils. The primary academy has also launched its new anti-bullying policy, with the support of the Harris Federation and the governing board.
Chair of Governors, Ann Slater, commented that she "was confident this would further raise the profile of the stance Harris Primary Academy Mayflower has taken in battling bullying."
Mrs Chapman, our Vice Principal, has led the development of this new and consistent approach. She was keen to remind parents and pupils that ours is a "telling academy" where we all have a responsibility to report bullying and where everyone should be open about saying "No" to bullies.
